Pre-operative Assessment
All patients will have a comprehensive pre-operative assessment with their specialist anaesthetist. This is usually conducted on the day of the procedure, immediately prior to the procedure. This is an important conversation where you are able to provide details of medications you are currently taking, allergies and medical history. You can also discuss any concerns you may have related to pain relief.
In Rooms Pre-Operative Consultation
If you are undergoing major or complex surgery, or if you have significant medical diseases or specific anaesthetic related concerns, it may be necessary to attend a pre- operative consultation in the hospital’s pre-admission clinic prior to the day of your procedure. Your surgeon will guide you in this regard.
